Some language points
I am not sure who was the first person who taught me how to say "Student".
Unfortunately most of the language teachers in Iran have problem in pronouncing the words which begin with "s".
Iranians like Spanish don't have the sound "S" in their language. So, we would better practice to pronounce "S" properly.
"Stop" could be pronounced "stap" not "estap" or "student" for "Student" not "estudent".
Another thing that is better to keep in mind is "W" against "v".
If we say "viliam" for "wiliam", it's likely to confuse native speaker.
I'd like to write sth about the words ending in "tin" and "tain" and ... but it's hard to explain them in here. we would say "martin" but amazingly English speakers would pronounce it differently. The similar examples are: "mountain", "Britain", "written" and the like.

The first problem that you have mentioned is called "consonent cluster" in Linguistics. It's not the "S" sound. In our Persian Language we cannot start a word with a consonent and all our words start with a "vowel".in English a lot of words start with consonents and especially consenent clusters.That's why it's very difficult for Iranians to pronounce some English words and they need a lot of practice.
In your second example the problem is called the difference between the fricative and semi-vowel or glide sounds.In Persian we dont have glid sounds like "W".SO again the same problem starts.William with V can also be somehow understood by English people. A good example can be "wet" and "vet".They really get confused over these two words.
The last problem is related to the sound called "schwa". Unfortunately we don't have this sound in Persian and that makes the problem.It's a very very short A sound and for Iranians the best way to pronounce this is to forget about it and pronounce the words as if there is no vowel between the two consonents. For instance for the word "Martin" pronounce it like Martn. practice it and see how it works buddy.
